Getting your blog known

Starting up a new blog is an exciting adventure for anybody. It gives them the chance to speak out to the world. Blog categories differ, from sports to music, or from gaming to technology. Depending on the type of blog you start, it can be pretty difficult to get your blog out there on the Internet in front of another billion other blogs from different people around the world. More than a website, getting a blog known can be painstaking and can take a long time. However, following these five easy steps can make getting your blog famous an easy task.

Step Number 1 - Pings
Pings are a bunch of different sites on the Internet. Pinging is the fastest way to get your blog known. Most ping sites may look different but they all do the same task: getting your blog known. If you're on Google's Blogger service and you have FeedBurner's ping enabled, you should be set to go. However, if you want to go the extra mile, check out this list of great pinging sites.

Step Number 2 - Sitemaps
Sitemaps may not always guarantee traffic to your website, but it's always a good idea to have a sitemap setup. You can set up Google Sitemap, which is free of charge. You can also download a program in which its crawler checks your blog for you. If your blog is like my one (which has a lot of articles), then you are better off getting the blog checked by a program rather than doing it manually. If you have a WordPress blog, check out this awesome plugin

Step Number 3 - Advertising
Advertising your blog should be an easy way to get a huge number of visitors to your website. If you're using Google's Blogger, it is advisable to put an ad on your blog. Why? you may be asking. Google's ad are popular all around the world and a huge number of people click on their ads (whether that is intentionally or accidently). One click on your ad means the traffics gone high. However, if you're looking for something other than a Google service, then I recommend SmartXchange. It may not be blog specific, it can start surfing your blog and no review of your blog is required.

Step Number 4  - Directories
Adding your blog to a directory is another great way of getting your site known. I have added AppleCentral to LSBlogs. LSBlog might look a bit difficult to use, but trust me, it is one of the easiest blog directories ever.

Step Number 5 - Interblog Linking
Interblog linking requires a lot of consent from other blog users. If other people can mention your blog on their blog, then that is great. Also, if you link to other blogs and your blogging software sends out trackback pings, they'll link to you for linking to them in your posts. While interblog linking may be useful, I do not recommend this.
